Hey there

Zimbabwe hasn't had a very good time of it in recent years. Now, with recent government changes and with money going to more of the right places, Zimbabwe is on the mend and tours, tourists and the tourist dollar (in some areas a MAJOR source of local income) are on their way back into the country.

The upcoming football World Cup is sure to inject some much needed cash in to the economy and, with a bit of luck, time and a few spare dollars, travelers will make their way from South Africa to Zimbabwe after achieving their 'football fix'!

There is much more to Zimbabwe than Victoria Falls and 'President' Mugabe, so read on and discover Zimbabwe - Overland style!

Happy Trails!
Tania

What's Your Opinion?

LOL - Are You For Real?

Funniest Question this Month

Where do the flies go when there are no people around?

Ummm....?

Zimbabwe Revived!

So what is the first thing that springs to mind when you hear the word, “Africa”?

I see sun, bush, devil thorn trees (nasty things but make for beautiful pics when in front of an endless red sunset), elephant, rhino and lion of course! All of which can be found all over Africa. But one country calls to me louder than the rest - Zimbabwe… and that is where I was born.

Zimbabwe has been in the news for so many reasons during the past 30 years with stories of hardship, violence and sadness. Now all of that is starting to turn around and HOPE seems to be the catchword the newsmakers and observers prefer… my favorite word of all!

Travelers and tours are returning to areas other than the mighty Victoria Falls – and not before time! Now there is no excuse not to visit one of Africa’s, soon to be, top destinations! Who could resist a real safari in an almost untouched Hwange National Park, or visit a town like Bulawayo where the streets were designed so you can turn a full bullock team and cart 360 degrees! Who do you know who can say they have stood before ancient Zimbabwe ruins of a lost world or taken a Lion cub for a walk….? Scenic flights and white water rafting may be a highlight of Victoria Falls but these are only a handful of attractions Zimbabwe has to offer! What about visiting the grave of the great explorer Cecil Rhodes or traveling along the Zambezi by canoe to bush camp on the riverbank under a huge African sky. Wake up to watch an elephant take an early morning swim… I could go on and on!

So, consider the endless opportunities Zimbabwe has to offer you, ignore politically biased news reports and be the adventurer with the spirit to discover more than what is on the surface. I can’t imagine why this magical country will not soon be the hottest travel spot in Africa!

But then… maybe I am biased.  ;)

See you on the road!
